Gardening from the Heart
Since 1976, The Gardeners of America has spearheaded horticulture therapy for persons with special needs.
Objective
To establish partnerships with local institutions serving youth or adults and provide support and encouragement in the field of horticulture therapy.

It all begins with a partnership between a member club and an institution that provides services to youths or adults with special needs ... children’s homes, nursing homes, Veterans centers, and county care.

The Gardeners of Greater Cleveland and the Euclid Veterans Association teamed up with the VA Hospital Spinal Chord Unit over the past 5 years to encourage and help the patients to be active. Members installed easy-access planters. Club members and patients regularly updated the garden and planters through the season.
